FIVE BOOKS OF 2016 I’VE LOVED | #YAXmasTour

Posted 15 December, 2016 by katheryn13 in Blog Talks, Blog Tours, Blogging Challenges, Fun, Updates, YA / 0 Comments

OKAY guys, I’ll admit. I forgot about this post. So it’s nearly 9PM and I’m winging it. THAT’S THE SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS, RIGHT?
RIGHT.
So I thought, what kinda thing could I post that would be fun, interesting, and y’know…book related. Because that’s how I roll. I thought about what books I’ve loved over this past year (though the year technically isn’t over yet, so this is like…a rough version.)
I chose five, because dammit, it’s such a hard topic, I wanted to keep it as basic as possible. Lest my heart bleed, and all that. I don’t have favourites where my children are concerned. I mean books. BOOKS.
So…here goes (in no particular order)
1: Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo — Yeah when I finally got around to reading this bad boy, I must say, I was NOT disappointed. I love the heist schemes, the characters – oh my Kaz! – and the writing is gorgeous to boot! Leigh is a fantastic writer and I can’t wait to see what else she comes up with. It’s a shame I couldn’t get through Crooked Kingdom as easily, but hey…these things happen.
2: Gemina (Illuminae Files 2) by Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman — This year was THE year for the greatest sequel ever to be around. Uh…that is, I was hella excited. I love spacey kind of sci-fi and I just love the format which this book is based around, so I wasn’t surprised when I loved this just as much as its predecessor.
3: Made You Up by Francesca Zappia — Thanks to a good YouTuber named Emma, I was recommended this book. It’s heartfelt, funny, instructive in a way I never knew it could be, and despite its subject matter, it was probably one of the best books I’ve ever read. I nearly said ‘written’ then…haha.
4: This Raging Light by Estelle Laure — I was not expecting this book to be one of my five-star ratings, but it was. A contemporary but with a story that is so compelling, I was almost screaming for more when it ended. Like seriously, you can’t end a book like that!
5: Winter by Marissa Meyer — Winter is the final book in the Lunar Chronicles, and wow, was that series great! I never thought I’d get so sucked in to the craze, but I did. If you haven’t read the series yet, you really should. It’s overwhelming at first, but you’ll become attached to it, trust me.

So there you have it. I hope these have peaked your interest. I highly recommend these. They’re just a shy few of what I loved about 2016. I have enjoyed so much beyond books, too, but a quick PSA: I wish people would stop shitting on 2016. I know bad things have happened, but try looking on the bright side for a change.

The third and final instalment in the thrilling Embassy Row series.
Grace has discovered that she’s the lost princess of Adria … but some people would prefer she stay lost. With her brother’s life hanging in the balance and secret assassins everywhere, life on Embassy Row has never been more dangerous.
Alright, that’s it. When I become Queen, I’m making it illegal to have longer than three months between books in a series! SERIOUSLY? How long has it even been since we had See How They Run? Book 2 feels like it came out many years ago. I need a new Ally Carter book PRONTO! I can’t wait for this. I became so attached to Grace and Alexei and Noah!
This book releases in paperback on 26th January 2017. EEEEEP!
